All the deceased lived in Anhui and Zhejiang provinces in Eastern China. The disease was detected in Jiangsu province. In total, the SFTS virus was found in 37 people in China.
Symptoms of the disease are fever, cough, vomiting, diarrhea, multiple organ failure, while tests show a decrease in white blood cells and platelets in the blood. Presumably, the virus is transmitted from person to person with blood or mucus.
